Study Tips
- 1
Draw the economic model immediately when you read an FRQ. AD/AS, money market, loanable funds, and forex graphs are the four essentials.
- 2
Know the transmission mechanism: Fed action → interest rates → investment → output → employment → price level.
- 3
Every FRQ requires you to shift a curve AND explain the resulting change in 2–3 macro variables.
- 4
Know the multiplier effect and crowding out — they appear in nearly every fiscal policy question.
Past Exam Questions
Assume the economy is operating at full employment. Congress passes a large increase in government spending. Using an AD-AS graph, show and explain the short-run and long-run effects on real GDP, price level, and unemployment.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- ✕
Ignoring the marks allocated per question — a 2-mark answer doesn't need a paragraph.
- ✕
Never practicing under timed conditions before the real exam.
- ✕
Confusing similar key terms that examiners deliberately test against each other.
